While reading listen to:

...

On the dusty road, a bare foot gently hits the rocks paving the lain into the woods.

And as the fresh air gently plays with the woman's hair, ease is present in the ambience.

Her figure blends into nature effortlessly, her heart finally recognising its home. Among the chirping of the birds and buzzing of the bees, where the greenery formed a peace of heaven modelled after her soul.

Her body seems to move with the wind, slowly swaying to the beat of the restless beast combing through the canopy of leaves, moving them in the rhythm of the upcoming storm.

Hair sticking to her damp neck, she inhales the heavy air, tasting the upcoming rain on her tongue. And as the air sizzles with the electricity of lightning flashing across the sky, deep knowledge settles inside her stomach.

Today she will create magic.

She moves deeper into the forest, her fingers moving through the air, gently grazing threads of faith, feeling for the right ones, the ones she will bound together forever.

Which one should it be? What is it that she desires?

A wicked thought paints a smile on her face, and a minor form of laughter escapes her lips.

Yes, she likes the idea present in her imagination.

Should she make it a reality?

Toying with the possibility, she steps further into the forest, closer to the upcoming rain clouds.

The wind, a trusted friend, whispers secrets into her ears while gently caressing her warm skin, reminding her that this is a perfect time to create the life she desires.

As the first raindrop hits her skin, her hand moves in a motion of a graceful wave, creating momentum for her body to follow. And as the rain gets heavier, so do her coordinated movements.

She effortlessly glides through the air, light as a feather.

It's magic in its purest form, flowing through and around her, creating, shaping, and building a future.

With blazing eyes, she turns to the sky and whispers three fateful words: "Let it be."

And so it is.

...

Did you ever try to create a future for yourself- visualise all the possibilities, and then choose the one you adore the most?

Visualisation is not new to this world; already been used by many influential and ordinary people throughout history. Its power lies in its psychological technique, which can significantly affect your mind and behaviour. It helps you to achieve your goals by training and conditioning your brain to see, hear, and feel the success in your mind. That way, you subconsciously look for the manifestation of your visualisations in your reality and are more likely to take the essential steps to achieve it. In psychology, we call this a self-fulfilling prophecy, expecting something and the expectation coming true because the individual anticipates it will.

I visualise all the time, from the smallest stupidities like the romanticised dates that never happen to challenging decisions and life pursuits.

Last year, I often asked myself: "What do I visualise? What are my life plans? Where do I see myself in the future?" I am no exception for feeling the enormous pressure to succeed in life and have it all figured out by the time I turn 26. The truth is, my future life is a mystery to me. I am still determining where I want this marvellous journey to take me; all my small goals, ten-year plans, and everything I want to attempt in between.

I love the saying I heard on Tik Tok: "I see the twenties as a dressing room. There are so many clothes out there; my job is to try as many as possible and find my style at the end of it." So last year, I decided to treat the time to my big 30th birthday party as a trial period. Like I did with my clothes in the dressing room, I carefully considered hobbies, ideas, aspirations, wishes, and desires. Then I visualised it; how it could fit in my life, how I would feel in it, what I could learn from it, and how it could make me the most spectacular-looking one out there. Finally, I styled it to my current state, choosing which to fit together in a given season and trying to elevate my life with it.

I enjoyed the reality of having everything I wanted to do, just a decision away, but I struggled with the perception of time. Trying on all the clothes I liked was demanding, but deciding If they were the right fit for me felt too binding for my 22-year-old mind. Like most of my peers, I am going through the lesson of trusting myself and my capabilities, taking risks, and reaching for dreams; because I am developing as a person, my ten-year golden moments change direction to. I struggled to commit to goals because I didn't know if they were right for me. I felt that all the work acquiring various skills was only worth it if I pursued what I was trying out full-time or at least for a few years. I couldn't give it my all because of the fear I won't like it in the future.

2022 taught me the importance of letting go and pursuing life as it presents itself. You can't know when small steps will lead you to big goals, and that is the pleasure of it; the unpredictability of fun and how enjoying life slowly carries you to draw out life that suits the feeling of rightness in your bones.

It was on one of my long thinking walks when I was planning my last semester in college when I asked myself a simple question that created space for freedom I so desperately craved: "What is my best outcome for the next three months?"

This seasonal question often comes with a big spoon of reality checks of my bad habits and a little freak out regarding all the areas of my life I feel lacking. But I treasure it because it keeps me in check; I can consistently stay on track for my big goals by taking small steps each season of the three-month question. It allows me to change direction if I don't vibe with a dream anymore, and in doing so, I have the freedom to build a future brick by brick from the present moment, widouth the fear of losing valuable time in my youth.

And let me tell you, I have accumulated a lot of weird habits by doing my three-month visualisations. But most of all, I have gained trust in myself, that no matter what happens in my life, I can change direction and follow my gut. Through my trial periods, I have met amazing people, got a few challenging but valuable lessons, and discovered I could create the life I want. It gave me the confidence to follow through even when I tried to quit, the chills when I succeeded, and an immense relief when the three months ended and I could drop the annoying drawing class I was taking.

Here are my rules for the dressing room; follow them if you want, but I strongly encourage you to form your own set of guidelines (it is much more fun that way:))

  1. If it's not a fuck yes, it's a fuck no.

  2. I am doing it for the plot of my story (I am selfish like that, I want to have the best story out there, so I always try to choose something that will benefit me in the long run and something to have fun with it.)

  3. Follow my instincts/my gut.

  4. Dreams are there for me to reach for them. (I don't hold back. I do what I dream about. I don't wait for the right time or the right opportunity. If I want to do something, I can start now. Even If it's the smallest of the steps, I am closer to the dream than before.)

  5. I follow the question: "What is the best that can happen?" and expect it to happen. (Keep in mind the power of visualization and self-fulfilling prophecy.)

  6. Enjoy discovering who you are by not taking anything too seriously. (Remember, it's for the plot.)

This has taught me to explore and map my life as I see fit. But most of all, it took away the pressure to have it all when I looked at my 30 candles. Instead, it allows me to explore myself and the world around me. And through my exploring, I have somehow found missing pieces to my being, and bit by bit, they are building a person I am proud of and often amazed by.
